Globe Scout Retires 707 Flags for Eagle Project

Preston Quintana, of Troop 5101 in Globe, recently retired American flags as his Eagle Project. With the help of Troop members and the Tri City Fire Department, he retired 707 flags. Fourteen of the flags were the enormous flags displayed by Freeport McMoRan Mining on their Tailings Dam. These flags measure 25 feet by 15 feet. The picture shows the crew doing a “konga line” to put one of these in the fire. The other picture gives you an idea how big the flags are.
