Troop 10 Pedaling Patriots
Troop 10 Pedaling Patriots Saturday ride 47.2 miles round trip, average moving speed 13.3 mph (recorded by the sweep rider).
Destination was Pegasus Airpark where we had lunch provided & a 65 mustang and 2 classic corvettes were on display (restored by craftsman, dad & Troop 10 leader Charles Spencer). After lunch we had a guided tour of the Pitts Museum. There were examples of each type of Pitts airplane. The Pitts Special is a series of light aerobatic biplanes designed by Curtis Pitts. It has accumulated many competition wins since its first flight in 1944. We learned that the very first Pitts plane was destroyed in a crash, the second is hanging in the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum. Today we got to see serial number three which is being restored to original status! A great day to ride!
